I am grateful that we rescued a dog who taught me, even when I
didn't want to learn.
I am grateful that my husband hung in when we weren't sure we
weren't up to the challenge of this scared angry dog.
I am grateful that our dog loved food, because it became the
gateway pleasure to all other pleasures.
I am grateful that so many people saw past the scary pit bull
label to the dog who was actually there. And I am grateful to
the rescue community that has taught me so much.
I am grateful for the trainers who taught me, again and again,
that it's always me, not the dog.
I am grateful for our dog's name, Faith, which has come to
embody almost everything about her..from faith that people are
glad to see her, to faith that there will be a delicious slice
of pizza on the ground right around the corner.
I am grateful that, at 11.5 years, Faith remains passionately
puppy like in her pursuit of swimming, hugs, snuggies, and
cheese.
I am so grateful.
What about you?
